Hardwick Elementary Student Council is a leadership program designed to foster student led change within the school. The last few years the council has consisted of 5th and 6th grade students who completed essays in the fall, and were selected by staff to be leaders for the current school year. We met once a week to discuss concerns, look at student Climate Survey data, and make changes based on the information. For the last few years we have partnered with an outside organization in a program called Personal Power and Community Connections. We worked with outside staff to learn about the community, and how students can make change based on data. The culmination of this year was purchasing recess toys for all grades to enjoy! Council members led a fundraiser to raise money for the wagon to carry the supplies, and they were successful in their efforts. Student council also helps run the school store - a weekly store for students that raises money for school wide celebrations. If you are an incoming 5th or 6th grade student, be on the lookout for sign ups in the fall!
